Directory data sources
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Unclaimed listings come from public business records. They have not joined Sub-Finder or completed independent member verification. Source information, business certifications and contractor licenses are separate from a Sub-Finder badge.
A listed location may be a business or mailing address, and its ZIP does not establish where the business accepts work. A source license may concern a different jurisdiction from the business address. The live state total counts listed business addresses; it does not imply a statewide licensing feed or complete trade coverage in each state.
Latest reviewed additions
The October 6 release added 443 NCDOT directory listings and 171 Illinois roofing listings after matching against existing records and suppressions. The site then covered business addresses in 35 states. Some states have only a small number of addresses. This is an address-coverage count, not 35 statewide licensing imports.
These additions are unclaimed listings. They create no membership, subscription or verification badge and declare no service area. Records with ambiguous identities, trades or source facts remain outside the reviewed import.
North Carolina Directory of Firms
Construction classifications come from the NCDOT Directory of Firms and its public DBE download. The directory includes firms with addresses in other states. DBE and other directory certifications do not establish contractor licensing or Sub-Finder verification.
The reviewed source produced 476 construction-company candidates; 443 became new listings after existing-record matching. Specific construction classifications, clear company names and valid locations were required. Ambiguous trades, individual names, conflicting identities and malformed records were held. Personal contact names and emails were omitted.
Illinois roofing businesses
Contains information from Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation — Professional Licensing, available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0.
Download the source-derived roofing register extract (JSON). The free machine-readable extract contains 187 approved source records from a 300-row pilot; 171 became new listings after matching. It identifies the source, license, review date and normalization method. Source-derived data in this extract is offered under ODbL 1.0, and these permissions are not restricted by the site's general terms.
This is a reviewed pilot, not the entire Illinois register. It includes business roofing credentials with clear company names, active unexpired licenses at review and no source discipline flags. Qualifying-party records, conflicting credential rows and unclear entities are excluded. Check current details with IDFPR. The source supplies no contacts or service areas; an active source license is separate from Sub-Finder verification.
Account ownership, subscriptions, reviews, billing and independent verification are separate from this public-register extract.
Established public-register sources
These imports cover eligible records and supported classifications, not every business or trade in each jurisdiction. Check current license or registration details with the official publisher.

Sources being prepared
The Nevada State Contractors Board's free active-contractor list is being validated for a future import. It is not included in the completed additions above. The statewide New York DOL source and Connecticut registrations also remain outside this confirmed release. A researched source or saved roster does not count as a published import.
Corrections, removals and current status
Public records can become outdated or refer to a different business with a similar name. To request a correction or removal, email info@sub-finder.com with the business name, profile link and issue. No paid subscription is required to submit a request. We may ask for information to identify the record or confirm your authority to manage it.
Before contracting, confirm the business identity, applicable license and insurance with the issuing authorities. Listing, claiming or importing a public record does not itself establish Sub-Finder verification.
